Of all the green teas, Matcha is the winner when it comes to having the highest amounts of both antioxidants and caffeine. The caffeine boost you get from Matcha is smoother than coffee, and the brain and metabolism-boosting benefits you get from drinking Matcha can help you feel better and live longer.

We added raw cacao, (pronounce it "ca-cow") the natural, unsweetened form of chocolate. Raw cacao is one of the richest sources of beneficial antioxidants, and the flavor is bittersweet, complex, and smooth. Cacao is uplifting, energizing, and is also naturally antidepressant.

The recipe also calls for cinnamon, which has been used to balance blood sugar, and is believed to be helpful for controlling cholesterol.

So as you can see, this concoction packs a real punch!

Organic Matcha and Raw Cacao

You can make this tasty drink in a mason jar or you can use a high speed blender like a NutriBullet, which is faster and will guarantee that there will be zero lumps in the finished product.

You will need:

1 cup of unsweetened almond or coconut milk (or whatever milk your heart desires)

1/2 to 1 teaspoon Matcha powder

1/2 to 1 teaspoon raw cacao powder

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

a pinch of cinnamon

optional: sweeten to taste with raw honey, maple syrup, coconut sugar, or stevia (I like to drink mine without sweetener, but make it to your own liking.)

Place all of the ingredients in a mason jar or high speed blender. Blend or shake the jar vigorously if you’re making it in a mason jar. Pour into your favorite mug or glass, add ice if you like it chilly.

Adjust the amounts of Matcha and cacao to suit your personal preferences. If you’ve never had Matcha before, start with ½ teaspoon. It has more caffeine than a regular cup of green tea, so start low and adjust based on what your body likes. Even though the caffeine in Matcha is a smoother ride than coffee, it’s still caffeine, so pay attention to how your body responds.

Look yourself in the mirror, give yourself a big smile, and Enjoy!
