First, how the heck do you pronounce that?
Rooibos is the Dutch Afrikaans word that literally means “red bush”. In South Africa, you might hear it pronounced something like “Roy Bosh”. Here in the US, a common pronunciation is “Roy Bose”.
Semantics aside, what’s the big deal about it?
Over the years, I’ve spoken with hundreds of customers who say that they really want to drink green tea for its health benefits, but they either just don’t like the flavor, or they want to avoid caffeine.
Rooibos is the ideal choice for these folks. Why? Rooibos contains zero caffeine, doesn’t get bitter like green tea does if you over-brew it, but like green tea, it’s loaded with important antioxidants. Basically, you get all the positives and none of the drawbacks that come with green tea.

Rooibos also offers a few health benefits that you don’t get from green tea.
Rooibos Is Naturally Anti-Inflammatory
Inflammation is at the root of so many diseases, so it makes sense to fight inflammation whenever you can. One of the easiest ways to do that is by consuming anti-inflammatory foods and beverages, such as dark colored berries, beta carotene-rich veggies like carrots and sweet potatoes, and drinking lots of inflammation-fighting Rooibos tea.
Rooibos Soothes The Stomach And Digestive Tract
Unlike Green tea, Rooibos contains no tannins, a naturally occurring compound that can irritate the sensitive tissues that line the stomach and digestive tract, resulting in nausea or stomach ache. Rooibos is antispasmodic, and can soothe stomach cramps.
Drink Rooibos Tea During Allergy Season
Rooibos contains a special bioflavonoid called quercitin, which is a natural antihistamine. Unlike drugstore allergy remedies, Rooibos doesn't cause drowsiness, headache, or dry mouth. This tea also contains vitamin C, which will give your immune system a little extra boost in combatting your runny nose during allergy season.
Rooibos Promotes Strong, Healthy Bones
According to a scientific study, compounds found in Rooibos tea may help prevent bone loss. Additionally, the minerals in this tea also promote the formation of healthy new bone cells, making this an ideal tea for women of all ages, especially when approaching perimenopause.
Where Can I Get Organic Rooibos Tea?
