Did you know... something as simple as a daily tea habit can help you have a more positive mental outlook on life? In today’s world, with so many distractions, it can be a challenge to even think straight. And it goes without saying that it has never been more important to have a healthy body and mind. The good news is that the regular enjoyment of black tea can really make a positive difference in how you feel on a daily basis.

According to the research, the special compounds found in black tea can provide significant benefits for your mental and emotional health. In a trial that involved 75 healthy men, it was discovered that after six weeks of regular black tea consumption, the test subject's cortisol levels were reduced, and all reported feeling more calm and less stressed. You can read more about that study right here.  Other scientific studies have shown that tea drinkers experience greater mental focus and less distractibility than those who don't drink tea.

Here is a special note to coffee lovers: You don't have to choose. You can enjoy your coffee in the morning, and tea for the rest of the day. Can you think of any reason why you wouldn't want to experience less stress and more mental focus? Would it be okay if you started feeling a little calmer, a little happier? If the answer is yes, then let's go make some tea!

One of the easiest ways to drink black tea regularly is to make a quart of iced tea to get you through the day. I created a simple cold brew iced tea recipe that is virtually dummy proof, so you won't have to worry about it tasting bitter, or being difficult to prepare. (Click here to learn more about cold brew tea.) All you will need to have on hand is some high quality loose leaf black tea (you can get that right here), a glass quart size mason jar, good water, and a few slices of your favorite citrus fruit for a bright pop of flavor and naturally uplifting aromatherapy.

You will need:
  • 4 teaspoons Assam black tea (you can also use Darjeeling, Ceylon, or whichever black tea is your favorite)
  • 1 quart of cool purified water
  • A few slices of lemon, lime, orange, or grapefruit
  • Optional: sprigs of fresh herbs like mint, thyme, rosemary, etc to add extra flavor as well as natural mood-boosting aromatherapy
  • Also optional: maple syrup, coconut sugar, or honey, if you like a little sweetness in your tea

Before you go to bed, place the black tea leaves and cool water in a glass quart size mason jar, and allow the tea to steep overnight in the fridge.
In the morning, strain out the tea leaves. Squeeze the citrus slices into the tea then toss them in. Garnish with a sprig of mint, thyme, or oregano for a little healthy kick.

Tip: If you go through a lot of tea or you're sharing it with others, simply double the recipe.

Now you have amazing cold brew iced tea for the entire day!

I have never made sun tea and always wondered what the big deal was about it. Reading about how it’s made, I think it’s much easier to do cold brew, which i do regularly overnight. My favorite is jasmine GT and your peach blend – what a treat! Oh yeah and thanks for the recipe card you include in my orders, they are a great reference.
