Tea of all kinds offers a world of healthy beverage options for anyone trying to get off soda or other sweetened drinks. If you’re trying to get your family to eat and drink healthier, these four herbal tea recipes are easy to prepare and pack a ton of health benefits. All of the recipes make 4 servings, are simple to prepare,100% caffeine free, and can be enjoyed by the entire family.
Because the recipes all call for loose leaf tea, you will need a tea infuser or strainer. There are many options available, and all of them are easy to use and clean. Click here to browse all of our tea accessories.
The recipes call for hot water that has been freshly boiled in a kettle, and not hot tap water.
Cozy Chamomile Bedtime Brew
This yummy tea is like a hug on the inside. For adults, chamomile is a mild relaxant. For kids, chamomile can help them sleep more soundly and help them feel more deeply relaxed. This tea is perfect for kids who come home emotionally wound up from school. It is also helpful for settling an upset tummy. When my kids were little, they loved drinking this sweet and creamy chamomile tea in the evening.
You will need
Steep the chamomile tea in the water for 3 to 5 minutes, then strain or remove the infuser. Add the honey or maple syrup and stir until it’s completely dissolved. Add the cinnamon and the milk. Taste the sweetness, and add more honey if you like it a little sweeter. You can also add more milk if you enjoy a more creamy consistency. Pour into your cutest mugs and enjoy in the evening.

Tropical Orange Punch
This tart and fruity punch is the perfect alternative to sugar-laden beverages. It’s loaded with vitamin C to boost your family’s immune system.
Steep the Cranberry Apple Tart in the hot water for 8 minutes, then strain or remove the infuser. (If you’re using plain hibiscus, reduce the steeping time to 4 minutes.) Chill the tea for 4 hours or overnight in the refrigerator. In a large pitcher, place the orange rounds and the pineapple chunks and gently crush them (the official term is “muddle”) with a wooden spoon to release the juices and flavors. Next, squeeze the third orange and add the juice to the pitcher. Finally, pour in the chilled tea, stir well, and taste to see if it needs any sugar. You might not, as the muddled fruits add natural sweetness. If you think it needs to be sweeter, add 4 teaspoons of coconut sugar to start with, and adjust it until it’s perfect for you. Serve chilled with or without ice.

Calm Down Cooler
This is the perfect springtime tea for the whole family, when the kids are antsy from spring fever. This herbal tea blend helps people of all ages to feel calm and less stressed. Overworked and tense adults will appreciate how calm they feel in both body and mind when they drink this.
Steep Daily Calm tea in the hot water for 10 to 15 minutes, then strain or remove the infuser. Chill the tea for 4 hours or overnight in the refrigerator. In a large pitcher, place the strawberries, clementines, mint leaves and cucumber slices and gently crush them (the official term is “muddle”) with a wooden spoon to release the juices and flavors. Pour in the chilled tea and stir well. Add in the coconut sugar if you think it needs to be sweeter. Serve chilled any time of the day or evening.
Creamy Coconut Chai
This yummy tea is decadent and creamy, and can be served as a dessert, or as a treat on movie night. This particular chai is completely caffeine free, and is warming to the body, perfect for cool evenings or windy days.
In a medium stainless steel saucepan, put the water and the Naked Chai. Cover the pan with a lid and bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low, and allow the tea to simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from the heat and add the coconut milk. Allow it to stand for a minute or two, then add the honey, stirring until completely dissolved. Strain out the tea leaves and pour into mugs. Top each mug with a dollop of whipped cream. Sprinkle a little toasted coconut and a pinch of cinnamon on top and enjoy!
