Tart and refreshing tea made from deep red flowers
Hibiscus is one of the most popular beverages around the world. It's sometimes called by its botanical name, Jamaica, pronounced "ha-mike-uh" south of the border. It has a sweet-sour flavor and gorgeous red color, and is terrific both hot and iced. Hibiscus is a tropical flower, packed with vitamin C and important co-factors that make vitamin C more useful in your body. Folks attribute medicinal properties to it, like keeping you cool during the summer, lowering blood pressure, and keeping kidneys healthy. Who knew. Now you do.
Brewing instructions: steep 1 teaspoon Hibiscus in 8 oz. hot water for 1 - 3 minutes or longer. Adjust amount and steep times to your preference. The more you use and the longer you let it steep, the more red and tart the tea becomes. You can chill the tea and add a cup to a pitcher of lemonade for instant pink lemonade.
