Although the tea sounds dangerous (or exciting!), Gunpowder Green Tea got its English name from its resemblance to grains of actual gunpowder. The tea leaves are rolled into little pellets, or "pearls", as they're referred to in China. When you pour hot water over the leaves, they jiggle, wiggle, and pop as they unroll and start releasing their magic. Gunpowder is one of the more flavorful green teas; smooth, smoky, full-bodied, with a dark golden-olive liquor. Put Gunpowder on your tea-related bucket list; it might become your new favorite.
Brewing instructions: Steep 1 teaspoon Gunpowder in 8 ounces hot water (170 degrees, ideally) for 1 - 3 minutes. Avoid over-steeping, but definitely reuse the leaves at least one more time before discarding them.
