How to Stop Sugar Cravings Naturally

Use Sugarproof Tea in two ways:

  1. Use the tea as a pattern interrupter. When you're craving a cookie or your favorite dessert, drink a cup of Sugarproof first, making sure to swish the tea around your mouth before swallowing. Because the sweet flavor will be reduced by at least 75%, the sweet treat will no longer be enjoyable.
  2. Drink the tea on a regular basis to reduce your desire for sugary foods and drinks on a more permanent basis

An excellent companion tea to Sugarproof is Sleek & Slender, an energizing tea blend that promotes healthy weight and blood sugar balance. Drink Sleek & Slender earlier in the day (Sleek & Slender contains slight caffeine) and switch to Sugarproof later in the day.

Brewing Instructions

Steep a teaspoon of Sugarproof Tea in a cup of hot water for 20-30 minutes. The longer it steeps, the better it tastes. Do Not Sweeten!

For best results, use paper tea filters for brewing.

Swish the tea around in your mouth before swallowing to coat your tastebuds.

Tasting notes

Pleasantly tart, with cinnamon

Ingredients

Gymnema sylvestre*, Jamaica sabdariffa*, Cinnamomum laurerii*, Mentha piperita*  (*certified organic)

Note that tea is an agricultural product, so you can expect variations in cut and consistency based on how the herb was processed, and seasonal availability.

FAQs

Can you drink your tea during pregnancy or when on medication?

Our teas are made from non-toxic botanicals that are generally regarded as safe. However, not all herbal teas are suitable for everyone. If you’re pregnant, on medication, or under a doctor’s care, we recommend speaking to your health practitioner before using the tea.

While there is a wealth of research on the herbs we use, your physician may not be familiar with it and might advise caution. Additionally, your pharmacist can be a helpful resource for checking potential interactions with your prescribed medication.

How long does it take for it to work, and when will I see results?

The time it takes to see results depends on the tea and your purpose for using it. Sedating, sleep-promoting teas typically work quickly, often within an hour. However, for chronic issues like inflammation or fatigue, it can take up to 90 days to notice significant improvements. This doesn’t mean the teas take 90 days to start working; rather, it takes time for the changes to become noticeable.Learn more.

Are your teas organic, and where do you get your ingredients?

With the exception of one or two wild-crafted herbs, we use only certified organic ingredients in all our teas. Our ingredients come from all over the world, sourced from regions where each botanical flourishes best. Our trusted suppliers perform third-party testing for agricultural chemicals, mold, heavy metals, and other contaminants to ensure the highest quality and safety.

How much tea do you use per cup, and how long do you steep it?

When brewing loose leaf tea, the gold standard is one level-to-rounded teaspoon of tea for every eight ounces of hot water. If you’re unsure what eight ounces looks like, use a measuring cup as a guide. Steeping times vary depending on the tea. For most herbal teas, it takes longer to extract all the beneficial compounds, so we typically suggest brewing your tea for five minutes or longer.Learn more.

What if I don’t like the taste of the tea?

If you're new to loose leaf herbal teas, the flavors might be unfamiliar at first. Give your palate time to adjust. If the taste is still challenging, try these tips:

  • Drink the tea quickly, like a shot, and follow with a chaser such as water or juice.
  • Turn it into a tea latte with creamy coconut or oat milk.
  • Add a pinch of cinnamon for natural sweetness and extra health benefits.
  • Add mint for a refreshing flavor that can mask other tastes.
  • Brew the tea with muddled fresh fruit for added sweetness and fruity flavor.

If you still don't enjoy the taste, keep experimenting with different teas. There are many options available, and you're sure to find one you love.

Found this tea to be extremely mild which didn't do anything to help my sugar cravings it was however very fresh. Won't reorder.

Great for my diabetes

Having a helpful cup of tea ahead of a potential lapse is just what the doctor ordered. It is a staple in our tea basket from now on.

Yummy

The sugarproof tea has great flavor. I’m not sure I would say it curbs my sugar cravings but I enjoy drinking it as a non caffeine option!

Taste

I tried it and hoped for a better out come. However, I craved sugar more frequently and I did not care for the taste. I've never been a huge fan of fruity/tart teas. Have tried other teas with other flavor profiles and prefer them better. I'd love to try a sugarproof tea that doesn't have a fruity/tart profile.

Not a tea drinker

It is ok. The flavor that is. I have tried so many different herbal teas thinking that this will be the one. But I've decided I'm just not a tea person. I put in a touch of cream after I had tried it without. Next I'm going to try iced. I seem to like tea better iced. Can't really see where it stopped my sugar cravings, but I don't really crave sugar any way. Just thought I'd try it. It is a nice drink in the evenings.
