Can't Have Dairy? No Problem! Skip The Almond And Soy Milk, And Try This Tasty Banana Milk Recipe Instead

When my littlest granddaughter was six months old, her mama discovered that she had a dairy allergy. Milk products of all kinds turned her skin red and inflamed with eczema. I wanted to find some kind of milk that was plant-based and non-irritating that she would actually enjoy. I was at the grocery store one day and found something I had never seen before: banana milk. I purchased a container so we could try it out. She loved it! The ingredients were pretty clean, but I realized that I can make it for her myself easily, without the need for added thickeners or preservatives, which almost all commercial plant-based milks contain.

So here is the simple recipe that I came up with. It’s perfect for adding to your teas, as well as your smoothies, your coffee, or just enjoying it as a yummy healthy drink that your whole family will love.

For this super simple recipe, you will need:
1 cup purified water
1 tablespoon nut or seed butter (I use almond butter, but if you have nut allergies, you can use sunflower seed butter or tahini)
1/3 to 1/2 fresh banana
A tiny pinch of salt
Place all ingredients in a high powered blender and mix until frothy and smooth.

Enjoy your homemade banana milk in your tea, coffee, espresso, chai latte, or as a base for your green smoothies. It's also yummy in cereal and oatmeal.

Like most homemade plant-based milks, banana milk has a short shelf life. Use it up within 48 hours. Because banana milk is easy to prepare, you can whip up a fresh batch in no time.

Know someone who’s lactose intolerant? Loves bananas? Or just wants a tasty alternative to regular milk? Save and share!

Cheers!
