  • 1 large mango
  • 2 organic apples, cored
  • 1 lemon, 1 lime
  • 2 organic carrots
  • 1 bunch of organic celery, trimmed and washed
  • a few slices of fresh jalapeño (optional)

Foods that are good for your brain

To prepare:

  1. Brew the tea by steeping a tablespoon of An Elephant Never Forgets (or the DIY combo listed above) for 10 – 15 minutes.
  2. While the tea steeps, peel the mango and cut into cubes.
  3. In your blender, combine the tea and the mango, and blend on high speed until the mango is a fine puree. Place into a pitcher.
  4. In your juicer, juice the apples, lemon, lime, carrots, and, if you’re feeling adventurous, the jalapeño.

Drink in the morning to kick-start your day, or before you study for a big exam, to give yourself a competitive edge.

Here are some of the amazing health benefits of the ingredients in this recipe:

  • The tea contains ginkgo and gotu kola, which have been heavily researched for their ability to promote memory, focus, and brain health
  • Mangoes and carrots are great for your eyes, and their high antioxidant levels help protect the body from disease
  • Apples are a heart-healthy fruit, and have also shown promise in protecting brain health
  • Celery reduces inflammation, improves gut health, and reduces your risk for neuro-degenerative diseases
  • We added a little jalapeño in the recipe because spicy chili peppers are a superfood for your brain. Consuming jalapeños, cayenne, and other spicy members of the chili pepper family, all trigger a release of feel-good endorphins, helping you feel more confident and positive.

Enjoy!
