This August, the astrological emphasis is on relationships, both to others and to ourselves. A relationship is only as strong and healthy as the people in them. During August (and beyond), the celestial forces are all conspiring to help us level up our game in regards to self-esteem, self-awareness, and self-worth. The work you put in on yourself and your relationships pays huge dividends to the people in your life. The sun is in Leo for most of August, placing the emphasis on all things heart-centered, such as love, generosity and courage. Our most important relationships require us to be both brave and vulnerable, which are all part of the Leo vibe this month.
The Love Planet
On August 6th, Venus, which rules how we behave in love and relationships, enters its own sign of Libra, making this a home game. Venus in Libra is all about harmony, beauty, and social grace. This period can help you deal with friction and problem areas in all relationships, both platonic and romantic. This placement also favors positive beginnings and chance meetings with potential new love interests. If you’re single, say yes to social invitations in order to put yourself in the path of Cupid’s arrows.

The Evolution Revolution
On the 7th, the planet Uranus goes retrograde. Uranus rules creativity and change, disruption and evolution. In retrograde, Uranus can cause disruption in relationships, which really isn’t a bad thing if you're complacent and lazy, in which case you are in dire need of a curve ball. One of the things Uranus retrograde affects is our self-esteem, and and makes us consider how much bullsh*t we’re willing to put up with. The time is ripe to face your truth and stand in it. You will grow, and so will the people around you. This time can also signify interesting changes and movement in your love life. If you’re single, bored, and feeling lonely, now is the time for a little disruption. Get out of the routine and see what happens outside the daily routines. If you’re in a committed relationship, this time period is perfect for experiments and adventures of all kinds. Just say yes to chaos; even a little bit will propel you forward.
Be in charge of your own chaos by shaking it up on the inside. There is an herbal tincture blend called Golden Bitters that stimulates your liver and moves stuck energy to help your body release toxins. Take a few drops before meals on an empty stomach to get things moving. Click here if you want to learn more.
On the 11th is a solar eclipse and a new moon in Leo. The sun is also in Leo, intensifying the Leo vibe, which is big, generous, and joyful. This sign rules the heart, both the physical heart and the emotional heart. However, new moon days are more of an inward time than full moons. New moons signify new beginnings, and this new moon is perfect for self-care, and care for the people you love and cherish the most. Use this time and energy to meditate on what’s truly in your heart.
Apply a dab of Moroccan Rose Oil to your wrists and inhale deeply. You can also apply a little over your heart. The aroma of real rose softens up hard edges and opens up the emotions. Hold a rose quartz while meditating can have a similar effect.
Mars is all about action, and is the planet that rules how we use our energy. Mars enters Capricorn on the 12th. Capricorn rules work, discipline, achievement, and tenacity. Because Mars is in retrograde until the 27th, you might feel like you’re chomping at the bit for a couple of weeks, chafing under heavy restraint. All good. This is like when an archer pulls back on an arrow. In order for the arrow to fly straight and true, the archer has to pull back, and back, and back, until the tension cannot hold any longer, and so they let the arrow fly. With Mars moving direct in Capricorn, the potential is there for us to move mountains.
Bulletproof Breakfast tea is complementary with this energy. This tea provides antioxidants galore and a clean, slow-burning fuel for purposeful forward momentum.
Tie Up Loose Ends
Mercury has been in retrograde since July 26th, but will change course and start acting right again on the 19th. Mercury retrograde periods are the worst for starting new ventures that require contracts that can be misunderstood, but ideal for wrapping up unfinished business and tying up loose ends. The best days for closing the book on unfinished emotional baggage are the 17th and 18th, when the moon is in Scorpio. This sign gets a bad rap for being vicious and vengeful, when really it’s not; it’s deep, and seeks the truth and is willing to be uncomfortable in order to get to it. Before Mercury goes direct, call on ruthless Scorpio energy to clean out your closets and get rid of clothing, emotions, and people that no longer serve your highest good.
If you’re the type of person who has a hard time letting go of things, sometimes a little herbal detox can help out in a gentle way. Daily Detox tea or Detox Chai helps the kidneys, liver, and lymphatic system to eliminate stuck gunk.
Forward – March
On the 23rd the sun moves into Virgo. Ok, enough with the clichés about nitpicking and obsessing over details. The sign of Virgo is pretty awesome. This Virgin is not some uptight prude. The older meaning of virgin is one who is self-contained and sovereign. The Virgo vibe represents clean and fruitful competence. With both Mercury (communication) and Mars (action) moving direct now, the roads are open, and the wind is at your back. The only thing stopping you is you. If you can get out of your own way (and this month has provided ample opportunities to get crackin’ on it) you’re going to go places.
Joyful Garden tea is a great ally to help you feel more calm under pressure. It contains Rooibos, which is a natural anti-inflammatory. The tea also contains sweet berries, so it tastes great and helps you take care of biz in a calm and purposeful way.
Calling For A Dream
If you’re not clear about where you’re going, the full moon in Pisces is the perfect night to conjure up a prophetic dream. The ancient Greeks used to visit caves in order to entice the Asclepias, god of healing, to visit them in a dream. You don’t have to book a flight to Greece; instead, break out your dream journal, and write down your wish. Before you go to sleep, repeat this wish to your subconscious mind as you drift off. Make a commitment to write down everything you recall from your dreams. Even if you don’t recall anything, write down your first thoughts upon waking. Even a tiny nugget can reveal a great truth.
There are 2 teas that are great for promoting dreams: Dreaming True, and Nitey Nite, the more relaxing of the two. Blue Dreams Sleep Serum helps you get a deep sleep and on a personal note, that stuff knocks me out and I dream hard and heavy every time I use it.
Overall, August is a month of opportunity and potential. Leveling up isn’t just for other people. The time is ripe for you this month. Don’t let the possibilities rot on the vine. Take action, and you will see the results sooner rather than later.
