Want Youthful Skin? Try This Anti-Aging Matcha Masque Recipe

Everyone talks about the many benefits of matcha tea. What’s less known is the benefits of matcha on your skin. Matcha is made from high quality shade grown green tea that’s been finely powdered. Of all the green teas, matcha contains the highest levels of both antioxidants and caffeine. When applied to the skin, the antioxidants in matcha help to slow the again process and can lead to a more youthful and vibrant complexion. Combined with cosmetic French green clay, which draws out impurities, vitamin C-rich amla fruit, and pure essential oils, this facial masque will nourish, tone, and enliven your skin. For best results, use this masque at least twice a week.

You will need:

3 tablespoons French green clay

1 tablespoon matcha powder

1 tablespoon amla powder

4 drops sandalwood essential oil (encourages cellular healing)

3 drops rosemary essential oil (stimulates circulation)

In a glass bowl, combine all the powders and mix well with a small whisk or a fork. Slowly add the essential oils, and blend them in well, making sure to distribute the oils throughout the powder blend. Store in an airtight glass jar.

To prepare the masque:

Note: make this fresh each time you want to use it. Don’t make a whole bunch of wet prepared masque, as it won’t stay fresh.

Blend 1 teaspoon of the masque powder with enough liquid (water, rose hydrosol, or green tea) to make a smooth paste that’s approximately the consistency of cake frosting.

It’s important to start with clean skin, so before you apply the masque, wash your face, and remove all traces of makeup or other facial products. Once your face is clean, secure your hair back away from your face. Gently apply the prepared masque paste to your face, and spend the next ten minutes or so relaxing. It’s normal to feel a little tingling sensation. After about 5 minutes you will feel a pulling sensation as the masque tightens and dries. Once the masque starts drying, it’s time to rinse it off with cool water.

Pat your skin dry, and apply a few drops of jojoba or grapeseed oil, along with a light misting of rose hydrosol. Massage the oil and hydrosol into your skin; your skin will absorb this quickly.

Now look in the mirror. Your face will have a healthy natural glow!
