Healthy kitchen tip: Even if you don't normally buy organic, you should always buy organic apples, because conventionally grown apples are heavily sprayed with pesticides.

We wanted to add tea to this recipe, so we chose Cranberry Apple Tart to add an extra boost of antioxidants and vitamin C, as well as a kick of tartness to complement the sweetness of the apples.

This ingredients in the recipe are loaded with health benefits: it's high in fiber, and supports brain health, heart health, sugar balance, and healthy cholesterol levels. This yummy recipe is vegan, paleo, and gluten-free, with zero refined sugar or flour. It tastes great, and you can feel good about serving it to your family.

Let's get started!

For the apple filling, you will need:

  • 6 medium organic honeycrisp apples
  • 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup
  • 3 tablespoons freshly brewed strong Cranberry Apple Tart tea
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon (my favorite kind of culinary cinnamon is Vietnamese cinnamon, which is more aromatic, sweet and flavorful than other types of cinnamon)

For the crumble, you will need:

  • 1/2 cup almond flour
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped pecans
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt (I always use "good" salt - Himalayan pink salt, or Celtic sea salt is the best)
  • 1/4 cup melted virgin coconut oil
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup

To prepare:

Preheat your oven to 350F.

Brew a strong cup of Cranberry Apple Tart by steeping four teaspoons of the tea in one cup of hot water for five minutes. Strain, and set aside.

Peel, core, and dice the apples, and place into a large mixing bowl. Mix in the tea, cinnamon, and maple syrup, and stir well. Pour apples into an 8x8 baking pan that's been greased with coconut oil, or you can pour the apples into individual greased pie molds.

In a clean mixing bowl, combine the almond flour, pecans, cinnamon, salt, maple syrup, and melted coconut oil. Pour the crumble mixture over the apples, and bake, uncovered, for 20 minutes. Remove from the oven, cover loosely with foil, and bake for another 20 minutes.

Try it and let us know what you think.

Enjoy!
